Quando ho visto quel cartellone ci ho messo un po’ a capire il nome dell’evento che si terrà ad Alberobello il 26-27-28 agosto. “Country in Beautiful Tree”. Alberobello = Beautiful Tree.
Mi è scappato un sorriso. Soprattutto per averci messo così tanto a capirlo dopo aver trascorso sei anni della mia vita in un città anglofona. L’atmosfera di Country in Beautiful Tree sarà tipicamente Western, con saloon, escursioni a cavallo, musica live e falò. Solo poche settimane fa, di ritorno da Martina Franca, in preda ai morsi della fame mi sono fermata a mangiare una focaccia con i pomodorini ad Alberobello. Tra un “om nom nom” e l’altro, la mia mente è volata al giorno in cui ho visto la Valle d’Itria e il paesino dei trulli per la prima volta. Era fine ottobre. Ero appena rientrata in Italia. È stato, insieme a Ostuni, il primo luogo che ho visitato. E da quel momento ho capito che la Puglia mi avrebbe regalato davvero tanto. Sotto tutti i punti di vista.

When I saw the poster it took me a while to understand the name of the event that is going to be held in Alberobello on August 26-27-28. “Country in Beautiful Tree.” Beautiful Tree is the English translation of Alberobello. Beautiful Tree. I smiled. Especially after having spent six years of my life in an English-speaking country… It will be like living the Western, with the saloon, horseback riding, live music, and bonfire. Just a few weeks ago, returning from Martina Franca, I stopped in Alberobello for lunch. While I was eating my focaccia with cherry tomatoes, between an “om nom nom” and another, I remembered when I saw the Itria Valley and the village of ‘trulli’ for the first time. It was late October. I had just moved back to Italy. It was, along with Ostuni, the first place I visited in Puglia. From that moment I realized that this region would give me so much. I wasn’t wrong.
